The world’s leading jewellery brands and the Coloured Gemstones Working Group (CGWG) have issued a series of expert papers titled “Ancient Crafts, Modern Challenges” about the coloured gemstones industry, Diamond World reports.

The brands include Chopard, Kering, LVMH, Richemont, Swarovski and Tiffany & Co. together with coloured gemstone mining companies Gemfields and Muzo, which together form the Coloured Gemstones Working Group (CGWG). The papers were written by a global consultancy firm TDi Sustainability.

The paper series “traces the journey of coloured gemstones from formation and discovery through to mining and recovery, trading, cutting and polishing, and retail, and examining how the coloured gemstone sector is governed,” according to the report.
