SOUTH AFRICA SLAPS DIAMONDCORP WITH A SHUTDOWN NOTICE ON LACE MINE

DiamondCorp said that Lace mine, in which it has a 74% stake, has been issued with a shutdown notice on underground operations by the South African Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), Rough & Polished reports.

The notice was issued following a fire incident on a dump truck that was extinguished without injury.

DiamondCorp added that it is “struggling to find logic in the instruction and was considering its options including legal means of redress”. It expects underground mining operations to remain suspended for at least a week.
