PETRA’S PRODUCTION UP 30% IN Q1 OF FY2016, REVENUE AT $94.7 MILLION

Petra Diamonds’ production of rough diamonds in the first quarter of fiscal 2017 (July 1 – 30 September, 2016) was up 30% to nearly 1.1 million carats year-on-year, Gem Konnect reports. Revenue for the quarter was $94.7 million from the 745,447 carats that were sold.

 

In a press release, Petra reported that expansion programs, including the Cullinan plant project, remain on track and in line with expectations.

 

Chief Executive Johan Dippenaar commented: “Operationally, the group has made a strong start to FY 2017 and we continue to expect full year production of 4.4- to 4.6 million carats, in line with earlier guidance”.
