Loose Rough Diamonds

“Chips”

“Chips” is the process of sorting flawed diamonds – mainly damaged and sometimes broken octahedron – belonging to the DTC. This is why the process is called chips sorting.

The name refers to a rough diamond sorting process which includes diamonds that can be cleaved as well as diamonds that can be processed without the initial preparation stages.

During the chips process, commercial white low- and medium-grade diamonds are sorted. The weight of the diamonds in this sorting process usually ranges between half a carat to two carats.
