David Yurman, Famous For Creating the Cable Bracelet

David Yurman is a jewelry manufacturer named after its co-founder, who established the firm in New York City with his wife Sybil in 1980. But well before then, Yurman had laid the groundwork for a successful career in artistic metallurgy. Even as a teenager, he created little sculptures and sold them at school. In later years, he travelled to cultural hot spots and studied under master craftspeople, developing his repertoire.

The jewelry item that Yurman first became famous for was his 1983 Cable bracelet, and its finial gemstones and twisted helix are still considered a classic and fan favorite. Since that time, Yurman has produced timepieces and fragrances, as well as jewelry for men and women. The firm now takes in over $800 million a year from its twenty-plus boutiques stores in the United States and around the world.
