The owner of Mouawad’s L’Incomparable necklace, an awe-inspiring piece of diamond jewelry that was unveiled in 2013 and sold for $55 million, has remained a mystery until now. Mouawad’s L’Incomparable necklace features a huge, 407.48-carat yellow-brown diamond. Found in the Mbuji-Mayi district of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the 1980s, the “Incomparable Diamond” is one of the largest gems ever discovered, cut from a 890-carat to its current size.
The centerpiece is surrounded by 91 white diamonds. These include 35 pear-shaped diamonds and 56 brilliant-cut diamonds. The necklace, made of 18-karat gold, took more than four years to design and create.
Nita Ambani, who is the chairperson and founder of the Reliance Foundation, as well as the wife of Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries and a member of the affluent Ambani family, has been identified as the buyer of the necklace. She reportedly gifted the stunning piece of jewelry to her daughter-in-law, Shloka Mehta, after she married Nita Ambani’s son, Akash Ambani, in March 2019.
