At least one Walmart Black Friday deal is causing an industry uproar: On Black Friday, Walmart listed the diamond-studded Cartier Roadster XL Chrono men’s watch for $18,000, as well as three other models from the same collection starting at $7,000. In response, Cartier said that Walmart not a Cartier-authorised retailer and that it could not guarantee the authenticity of the product, Gem Konnect reports.
The watch was sold by a third-party vendor, New-York based Jewelry Unlimited Inc., on Walmart’s website.
Cartier issued a statement to the press, saying: “Walmart is not a Cartier authorised retailer, therefore, Cartier has no knowledge or involvement in the selling or marketing of this watch nor can confirm the authenticity of the piece”.
