What started as an April Fool’s joke is now a serious matter, at least in internal decor circles: Tiffany & Co really is replacing its iconic robin-egg blue with a bright yellow house color – at least in some key locations, and for a limited period of time, IDEX Online reports.

Tiffany’s stores have a unique particular shade of blue – Pantone 1837, named after the year the company was founded and trademarked in 1998.
On April 1, Tiffany fooled some of its Instagram followers by posting a picture of a yellow box with the message “tiffanyandco Introducing our new House color”. But now, according to the report, Tiffany’s iconic Rodeo Drive store in Beverly Hills underwent a yellow makeover and selected outlets globally “will follow suit”.

Tiffany was acquired in January by luxury giant LVMH for $15.8 billion. Earlier this year, it was reported that LVMH has ambitious plans for its newest acquisition, including the expansion of its collections to include “more gold, precious gems and watches” as well as revamping many of Tiffany’s 320 stores.
