A survey conducted by the e-commerce website ESDlife and quoted by IDEX Online shows that brides in Hong Kong “expect at least a one-carat diamond in their engagement ring.”
The survey, conducted among 1,226 men and women with marriage plans, also showed that most brides would “reject a proposal outright if there was no ring at all.” According to the report, the average wedding budget rose 9% year-on-year to $49,445.
According to a report earlier this year by BriteCo, a jewelryinsurance and appraisal technology company in the US, the most popular diamond sizes for engagement rings in the US ranges from 1.0 and 1.5 carats. The average center stone diamond size grew from 1.20 carats in 2020 to 1.32 carats in 2021. The average for lab-grown diamonds increased from 1.34 carats in 2020 to 1.49 carats in 2021. The average size for natural diamonds increased from 1.16 in 2020 to 1.25 in 2021.
