Dubai-based Fura Gems Inc., a coloured-gemstone mining company, has unveiled the world’s largest gem-quality ruby ever mined at an event hosted by DMCC at the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE).
Named “Estrela de FURA” (Star of FURA in Portuguese), the 101-carat Mozambican gemstone is characterized by “extremely rare ”vivid red hue, fluorescence, and clarity, according to a press release quoted by Diamond World. The stone will be showcased in Dubai for a month by appointment only and will then be placed for private auction in October.
