SURVEY: 60% OF MILLENNIALS SEARCH FOR COUPONS CODES BEFORE SHOPPING

A survey called “The Millennial Shopping Report Summer 2017”, conducted by coupons site CouponFollow, shows that while 53% of millennials shops mainly in brick-and-mortar stores, 31% of the generation do most of their purchases online. 60% of Millennials search for coupon codes before shopping.

The survey was conducted in May among 1,000 Americans between the ages of 20-35 from all 50 states. According to the report, millennials (those born between 1982 and 1996) now “make up the largest generation in human history, with over 80 million members in the US alone”. Additionally, millennials “now account for 28% of all daily per-person consumer spending—a figure that could rise to 35% by 2030”.

The survey highlights three takeaways: retailers must bridge the gap between online and offline experience; millennials are willing to engage with brands but only when relevant to the transaction or shopping experience; and 60% of millennials search for coupon codes before shopping, as younger consumers “are feeling the challenges of adulthood and are actively looking for ways to preserve resources”.
