Boucheron

Boucheron

Boucheron is one of the famous French jewelry producers who were founded over 150 years ago and are still in existence to this day. The firm manufactures polished diamond jewelry, watches and perfumes, and in addition to its century-old storefront at the Place Vendome in Paris, the company has over thirty retail outlets all over the world, from San Francisco to Kyoto, Kuala Lumpur to Dubai.

The first Boucheron store was opened in 1858 at the Palais-Royal by Frederic Boucheron. Within 35 years, he opened a store in Russia, first located in Moscow, then moved to Saint Petersburg. By 1903, Boucheron opened outlets in London and New York.

Boucheron’s claim to fame is for having sold jewelry to the royals of several European nations, including the Russian Prince Felix, the British Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) and monarchs of Patiala, Iran, Egypt and Jordan.

The firm remained in the hands of Boucherons until 1994, when it was sold to the Scheizerhall firm. Six years later it was purchased by Gucci, and four years after that by PPR.
