Fendi, originally an Italian luxury fashion house, has developed into a multinational luxury goods brand owned by LVMH, with Karl Lagerfeld as its creative Director. Fendi’s specialties include bags, leather goods, shoes, belts, textiles, jewelry, eyewear and watches.
Fendi was launched in 1925 by Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande, carrying leather goods and luggage with a small fur workshop in the back. In 1965, a young and promising designer by the name of Karl Lagerfeld joined Fendi; three years afterwards, the brand caught the attention of American retailers, turning Fendi into an international brand.
In 2001, LVMH became the Fendi majority holder, with the aim of expanding the brand internationally. In just ten years, the number of Fendi stores ballooned from two to 196. From a small family-owned store strategically located on Via del Plebiscito in Rome, Fendi now sports key boutiques in major cities – New York, Paris, London, Milan, Seoul and Tokyo, as well as two major outlets in the United States.
