FENDI

Fendi – From a Small Store to a Multinational Brand

Fendi, originally an Italian luxury fashion house, has developed into a multinational luxury ‎goods brand owned by LVMH, with Karl Lagerfeld as its creative Director. Fendi’s specialties ‎include bags, leather goods, shoes, belts, textiles, jewelry, eyewear and watches.‎

Fendi was launched in 1925 by Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande, carrying leather ‎goods and luggage with a small fur workshop in the back. In 1965, a young and promising ‎designer by the name of Karl Lagerfeld joined Fendi; three years afterwards, the brand ‎caught the attention of American retailers, turning Fendi into an international brand.

In 2001, LVMH became the Fendi majority holder, with the aim of expanding the brand ‎internationally. In just ten years, the number of Fendi stores ballooned from two to 196. From ‎a small family-owned store strategically located on Via del Plebiscito in Rome, Fendi now ‎sports key boutiques in major cities – New York, Paris, London, Milan, Seoul and Tokyo, as ‎well as two major outlets in the United States. ‎
