Helzberg Diamonds

Helzberg Diamonds is an American jewelry retail chain with hundreds of outsets, headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. The jewelry and diamond company was founded about a century about by the firm’s namesake, Morris Helzberg, and it remained in the hands of his family for 80 years.

At the tender age of 14, Helzberg’s son Barnett was forced to take the reins of the business when the father fell ill. After almost a half-century of operations, Barnett took the position of Chair of the Board and his son, Barnett Junior took over the day-to-day leadership role. The younger Barnett sold the firm to Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway in 1995, and it has remained in their possession ever since.

Today the chain has over 234 retail outlets in the United States. For the last four years, Beryl Raff has served as the firm’s chief executive officer.
