Loose Rough Diamonds

IDMA

IDMA – the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, was established at the end of World War II and first met in 1946 in Antwerp.

IDMA is committed to working according to the best practices principles accepted throughout the global diamond industry, as well as according to international laws that pertain to the sector. Therefore IDMA adopted a code of ethics to which all its members must conform.

IDMA’s main activity is coordinating issues between its member associations and rough diamond producers throughout the world, such as working conditions in factories; health issues; benefits, etc. As a member of the World Diamond Councill, IDMA is active in the Kimberley Process to fight conflict diamonds.

IDMA meets once every two years, alongside the congress of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses. During the congress, both organizations hold plenary meetings and make joint decisions. At the start of 2012, IDMA comprises 16 member associations of diamond manufacturers.
