JAR

JAR is not the name of a jewelry company, but the adopted moniker of designer Joel Arthur Rosenthal, the Harvard graduate who has been creating exclusive jewelry for the rich and famous for more than three decades. Just as his name implies, JAR makes his own rules, which include retaining the right to refuse a sale, if he believes that the item would not compliment the look of the prospective purchaser.

Because his designs are so sought after by Hollywood stars and Middle East monarchs, JAR can afford to have a storefront in Paris’ infamous Place Vendome, but put nothing in the display window and not even keep regular hours.

JAR truly designs for an exclusive market: though he employs a team of craftspeople, they only produce a few dozen pieces of jewelry every year, and these are all one-of-kind and often made for a specific person to begin with.

JAR often uses the pave technique to mount several polished diamonds of different colors next to one another to create a beautiful gradient effect.
