Full House at WDC world diamond council

World Diamond Council (WDC)

The World Diamond Council (WDC) is the body that represents the interests of the global diamond industry in the Kimberley Process (KP).
The Kimberley Process was established in 2000, as part of an effort to find ways to stop conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate diamond trade.

Months later, at an international diamond dealers conference that took place in Antwerp, Belgium, the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) decided to establish another body that would represent the interests of the global diamond industry in the battle against conflict diamonds.

The World Diamond Council founding conference took place in Ramat Gan, Israel, in September 2000. The Council takes part in all Kimberley Process meetings and has representation in the KP Forum’s committees that visit diamond centers around the world in order to collect feedback on the Kimberley Process’ documentary work and supervisory work.
