Fancy Black Diamond

World’s Largest Cut Diamond

According to the Guinness Book of Records, the world’s largest cut diamond is an unnamed Fancy Black containing small red diamond crystals.

The diamond weighs 555.55 carats and was polished into 55 facets over a period of several years. The process was completed in June 2004.

The repetitive use of the number five is culturally significant to Muslims.

The cut was inspired by Ran Gorenstein of Belgium, who also commissioned the work.
