If you’re planning to tie the knot and pop the question anytime soon, you’d probably want to involve a beautiful engagement ring in this all-important moment, and these come in many different styles.
Gold, platinum, titanium, silver and stainless steel are all used for engagement rings. In the west, and particularly the US, diamonds have featured in engagement rings since the middle of the 20th century. Traditional engagement rings may have prong setting and bands, and engagement rings with side stones are also vastly popular. There are also trinity rings or trilogy rings, which represent the couple’s past, present, and future. These feature rings with three matching diamonds set horizontally in a row with the bigger stone placed in the center.
There is also the wedding or bridal set, which features an engagement ring and a matching wedding band. The trio set includes an engagement ring, a wedding band and a men’s wedding band.
If you’d like a diamond in your ring, remember the Four-Cs of diamond evaluation: carat, color clarity and cut. Some experts claim that the cut is the most important of the four, as a great cut can render flexibility on some of the other C’s. The brilliant cut, which provides the maximum amount of sparkle to the gemstone, is the favored cut for modern engagement rings. Not all settings, however, can accommodate all diamond shapes and sizes.
