Half Moon Cut Diamond

Half Moon Cut

Half Moon cut is a form of polishing diamonds into a semi circle or crescent shape. In the 1920s and 1930s the diamond’s straight edge was faceted using step cut but today brilliansteering is used to achieve a seamless straight side. The unique Half Moon diamonds are particularly popular in ring settings, where two Half Moon-cut diamonds are set on either side of a central stone.

The result is an exceptionally appealing diamond setting on the ring.

Half Moon cutting offers a creative solution for polishing diamonds of diminished value due to imperfections on one side despite flawlessness on the other. Cutting the defected side of the diamond renders an exceptionally shaped stone of a higher price than that of the original diamond. Half Moon cut makes the designing of jewelry with unique settings possible.
