Rio Tinto’s 2020 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender, which included a collection of 62 rare pink, red, blue and violet diamonds from the famous Argyle mine in Australia, has delivered “a record result”, according to Rio Tinto as quoted by Rough & Polished. The prices achieved for the stones, however, have not been published.

The tender achieved a “double digit price growth and a record number of participants with successful bidders from eight countries”. The highlight of the lot was a 2.24-carat stone named Argyle Eternity™ – the most valuable Fancy Vivid diamond in the Tender’s 37 year history. It was sold to Hong Kong fancy coloured diamond specialist, Kunming Diamonds.

Other record breaking diamonds included the Argyle Infinite™, a 0.70-carat oval Fancy Dark Violet-Gray diamond – the most valuable diamond in this colour category ever produced at the mine. The tender also includes the “ Petite Suites” collection – 12 miniature rare Argyle pink, red, blue and violet diamonds, weighing 13.90 carats in total.
The 2020 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender was the penultimate Argyle tender, with a final Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender scheduled for 2021.
