Data released by India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and quoted by IDEX Online shows that the country’s gross exports of polished diamonds more than doubled year-on-year in the six months from April to October 2021.
Gross exports of polished diamonds went up 106% year-on-year to total $14.9 billion. In October, the year-on-year figure jumped 45% to $2.56 billion.
In the six months to October, India’s exports of polished lab grown diamond rose 154% year-on-year to $734 million.
