India’s cut and polished diamond exports were up 2.85% year-on-year in December 2021, while rough imports were up by 19.31% year-on-year during the same period, Rough & Polished reports. Imports of cut and polished diamonds grew more than 22% to total $147.67 million in December 2021.

Between April and December 2021, gross exports of cut and polished diamonds totaled 18007.24 million – a growth of 69.3% year-on-year. Imports of cut and polished diamonds for the same period totaled $1015.65 million – a fall of 28.74% year-on-year.

Between April and December 2021, gross imports of rough diamonds totaled $13610.78 million – a growth of 100.68% year-on-year. Exports of polished lab-grown diamonds totaled $923.13 million – a rise of 119.92% over the same period of the previous year.
