Italian jeweler Bulgari has gone all out to honor Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne on June 2, and has created a fabulous platinum, diamond and emerald tiara to mark the occasion, IDEX Online reports.
According to the report, a team of five craftsmen, led by a master goldsmith, “spent over 1,500 hours creating the piece, which is to be sold privately.” The piece features a 63.44-carat Zambian emerald carved with a blooming lotus flower and paired with a high jewelry watch in white gold, set with eight emeralds (of approximately 18.4 carats), round brilliant-cut diamonds, pave-set diamonds on the case and bracelet, and snow-set diamonds on the dial (of approximately 11.4 carats).
Lucia Silvestri, high jewelry creative director at Bulgari, commented: “[…] “I was inspired by the Queen, a strong and powerful woman, an icon of our times, and by her historic admiration of emeralds, to design a piece centered around this striking carved emerald, which showcases Bulgari’s mastery in craftsmanship and creativity.”
