Diamond Fetches $2.5 Million at Phillips Sale in Hong Kong

An unmounted 26.12 carat D-Flawless (Type IIa) diamond raked in HK$19.6 million ($2.5 million) at Phillips Jewels and Jadeite Hong Kong Auction, according to a press release quoted by Diamond World.

 

The sale achieved HK$60.4 Million ($7.73 million) with 92% sold by value and 87% sold by lot. Benoît Repellin, worldwide head of jewelry at Phillips, commented that the total value was 125% higher than during the last auction season in June.

 

The sale”drew wide participation and intense bidding by collectors from across 40 countries/ regions,” Repellin said, with 78% of participants “participating in the sale online.” Repellin added: “The results prove that the market for colorless and coloured diamonds continues to be robust and particularly sought after.”
