Dubai: First Ever Lab-Grown Diamond Symposium Hosted by DMCC

The DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) hosted the world’s first Lab-Grown Diamond Symposium on July 10th to “discuss the opportunities and challenges for shaping the long-term future and prosperity of the industry,” according to a news release quoted by Diamond World.

Titled “Building Lab-Grown Diamonds’ Own Bright Future”, the Symposium hosted more than 230 stakeholders and industry experts including growers, manufacturers, retailers and financial institutions.

The delegates were welcomed by Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO, DMCC, who said: “The LGD Symposium is a first-of-its-kind and timely gathering looking critically at the issues facing this nascent, technology-driven industry.” Bin Sulayem said that Dubai’s trade of LGDs in 2022 (worth $1.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 126%) is evidence of “the rapid rise of LGDs and their applications, from fine jewelry to semiconductors and heat sinks […]”.
