Gemfields has unveiled its latest Faberge egg, a stunning $1.2 million masterpiece that opens to reveal a 5-carat square ruby, set within a removable rose gold filigree sphere, IDEX Online reports.
Named “Malaika” (“angel” in Swahili), the egg honors Mozambique, the home of Gemfields’ Montepuez ruby mine.
Crafted by a select team of English artisans, the egg features 4,312 round brilliant-cut white diamonds, 252 round brilliant-cut brown diamonds, 308 rubies, 421 round pink sapphires, and 61 amethysts, all set in 18k rose gold.
UK-based gemstone miner Gemfields acquired the iconic Faberge brand in 2013.
