The Fancy Color Diamond Price Index recorded a slight additional decrease over the three months ending September 30, according to data from the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF).
The data shows that prices for fancy color diamonds fell by 0.5% in Q3 2024, following a 0.7% drop in Q2, which marked the first decrease in fancy diamond prices in nearly four years.
During Q3, Yellow diamonds experienced the steepest quarterly decline, down 1.6% from Q2, while blue diamonds lost 0.7% of their value, and pink diamonds saw a marginal decrease of 0.1% compared to the previous quarter.
Among categories, 1-carat fancy intense yellow diamonds saw the largest drop, at 3.8%. The best-performing category was 3-carat fancy vivid pink diamonds, whose prices rose by 2%.
The Fancy Color Diamond Index tracks the prices of fancy diamonds across various colors and sizes, having increased by over 200% since its launch in 2005.
