Polished diamond prices continued their downward trend in October, though the frequency and magnitude of price drops for round and fancy shapes showed signs of easing. Reduced production in India has tightened supply, which may contribute to price stabilization, according to IDEX Online.
Round Diamonds
Price declines were especially common in the 0.50- to 1.99-carat range, with significant drops in D-F color and IF-VS1 clarity categories. However, some gains were noted for stones between 2.00 and 4.99 carats. Diamonds in smaller sizes (0.23 to 0.49 carats) showed minimal changes, while the most substantial price drops were seen in the 1.50- to 1.99-carat and 5.00- to 5.99-carat ranges, as reported by IDEX Online.
Fancy Diamonds
For fancy shapes, overall activity remained subdued, with price decreases slightly outweighing increases. The most notable declines were seen in the 1.00- to 1.49-carat category, while smaller fancies (0.40 to 0.69 carats) saw limited movement, the report indicated.
