CHRISTIE’S JEWELRY SALE BREAKS PARIS RECORD

A Christie’s jewelry auction in Paris (June 6) raked in $7.8 million – the highest revenue ever for a jewelry sale in Paris. According to Jewelry Focus, the auction “attracted buyers from 20 different countries, including 124 online bidders”.

 

The auction was highlighted by the sale of a diamond and platinum Belle Epoque era necklace, which raked in €1.4m (approximately $1.56 million) made by Cartier from the Boni De Castellane and Anna Gould collection.

 

According to the same report, “some 59% of the lots sold above their presale estimates. Of the lots sold, 97% were sold by value”.
