HK: PINK-PURPLE DIAMOND RING SELLS FOR MORE THAN $1 MILLION

Bonhams Rare Jewels and Jadeite auction in Hong Kong, held earlier this week, saw a fancy coloured diamond ring from Cindy Chao’s iconic Ribbon Collection sell for $1.17 million (HK$9.1 million). Bonhams sold a total of 123 lots for $7.08 million (HK$55.24 million).

According to Gem Konnect, the ring features a fancy pink-purple 4.23-carat oval-cut diamond wrapped within a setting of ribbon design, pave-set with brilliant and cushion-cut diamonds.
Other notable lots included a 10.02-carat emerald and diamond ring, sold for $782,000 (HK$6,100,000), and a 10.03-carat diamond and coloured diamond ring by British jewellery designer Stephen Webster, which sold for $459,000 (HK$3,580,000).

Bonhams Head of Jewellery, Asia, Graeme Thompson said: “Overall, the sale was very positive with strongest interest from local and global collectors in white colourless diamonds, fine gemstones and rare jewels […]”.
