Five Leading Jewelry Trends in 2022

From charms in all shapes and sizes to extravagant floral pieces, we scoured the internet for the top jewelry trends in 2022, according to fashion journalists scouting the Fall 2022 runways.

Charms: Charm bracelets never really go out of style, but now, it seems, they’re back – in all shapes and sizes – to awaken some early 2000s nostalgia and bring back fun to everyone’s wrists.

Bangles: The rigid, solid, ever-popular bangle is making a splash in different looks this year – natural or edgy, in silver or in gold.

Chain link necklaces: Chain link necklaces make for a great statement piece, whether as a delicate, everyday accessory or as a jaw-dropping oversized piece featuring layers and/or charms when going out for a night on the town.

Floral pieces: Huge pieces in full bloom and quirky or delicately exquisite – floral jewelry is here to stay, mainly floral earrings, and especially in bridal jewelry.

Bold jewelry: Apparently, people are getting over The Year of the Sweatpant that was 2020 (and let’s face it, 2021 was no picnic either) with the exact opposite – going bold with interesting accessories. Some call it the maximalist approach, and it includes chokers, the aforementioned chunky chain link necklaces and, generally speaking, strong pieces that people can see, and not just guess at.

Whether we’ll be buying charms or floral hoops, a recent analysis  by Edahn Golan Diamond Research & Data shows that the first half of 2022 has been hugely “impressive” for jewelry sales in the US, and the readiness of the American consumer to “spend more per item.” Relying on the latest Tenoris.bi data, Golan shows that in H1 2022, US jewelry sales by specialty jewelers rose 11% year–over-year. The average expenditure increased 15%.
