ALROSA SELLS $16.3 MILLION IN DIAMONDS IN HONG KONG AUCTIONS

Alrosa has announced the results of the rough and polished diamond auctions it held at the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show (February 27 to March 3).

 

During the rough auction, Alrosa sold 12 special size (over 10.8 carats) diamonds with the total weight of 1,787 carats for $13.5 million. During the polished auction, the Russian miner sold 67 diamonds with the total weight of 205.56 carats for a total of $2.8 million. The sold assortment included 48 standard color polished diamonds and 19 fancy color stones. All in all, the miner sold $16.3 million in both auctions.

 

The rough auction included 50 participating companies and Alrosa noted that its “expectations were justified”. As for the polished auction, the company stated: “We give an upbeat assessment of the auction. Large standard color polished diamonds were especially popular at the auction, we have also sold all the fancy color diamonds”.
