ALROSA SELLS $504.5 WORTH OF DIAMONDS IN JANUARY

Russian mining giant Alrosa has announced diamond sales results for January 2018, reporting the sale of $504.5 million worth of rough and polished diamonds.

 

Rough diamond sales by value amounted to $499 million, while polished diamond sales totaled $5.5 million. ALROSA Deputy CEO Yury Okoemov commented: “Earlier this year, we have seen good demand for the whole assortment of our diamond products. It was supported by positive trends in the major sales markets backed by good retail sales results in 2017, including the Christmas season, and growing polished diamond prices in January”.

 

In December 2017, Alrosa sold $237.8 million worth of rough and polished diamonds. Rough sales totaled $228.3 million, while polished diamond sales totaled $9.5 million. As for 2017, rough and polished diamond sales amounted to $4.267 billion. Rough diamonds totaled $4.17 billion, while polished diamond sales totaled $96.9 million.
