ALROSA RAKES IN $559.5 MILLION FROM DIAMONDS SALES IN MARCH

Russian mining giant Alrosa has announced its diamond sales results for March and the three first months of 2018.

 

In March, Alrosa sold $559.5 million worth of rough and polished diamonds. Rough diamond sales by value amounted to $550.3 million, while polished diamond sales totaled $9.1 million. Alrosa’s diamond sales in the first quarter amounted to $1.606 billion. Rough diamonds were sold for $1.582 billion, while polished diamond sales totaled $23.7 million.

 

Alrosa Deputy CEO Yury Okoemov commented: “In January-March, world markets saw higher demand for medium and large-size rough diamonds compared to the same period last year. There was a slight seasonal cooling off in demand in March. However, good results of special size diamond auctions (over 10.8 carats) ensured higher sales this month compared with February 2018 […]”.
