ALROSA’S DIAMOND SALES IN APRIL “GOOD ENOUGH”, SAYS MINER

Russian diamond miner Alrosa has announces diamond sales results for April and the first four months of 2018. According to the miner, it sold $405.3 million worth of rough and polished diamonds in April – rough diamond sales totaled $396.2 million, while polished diamond sales totaled $9.1 million.

 

As for total diamond sales in January-April 2018, these amounted to $2.011 billion. Rough diamonds were sold for $1.978 billion, polished diamonds – for $32.9 million.

 

ALROSA Deputy CEO Yury Okoemov commented on the results: “In January-April, world markets saw consistent high demand for rough diamonds. In April, diamond trade traditionally slowed down due to seasonality. Nevertheless, demand and sales results were good enough for this month, supported by optimistic market trend and positive reports from retailers”.
