Alrosa’s Sales Up in December, Predicts “Stable Demand” in Q1 2021

Russian mining giant Alrosa has published its sales of rough and polished diamonds for November, raking in $390.5 million – up more than a third when compared to November 2019, IDEX Online reports.
According to Alrosa’s press release, November’s rough diamond sales totaled $374.1 million while polished diamond sales totaled $16.4 million. For the first 11 months of 2020, January to November, Alrosa has sold a total of $2.28 billion worth of rough and polished diamonds.
Evgeny Agureev, Deputy CEO of Alrosa, commented on the results: “Demand for rough diamonds from our key clients in November remained strong enough as they bring their stocks to the normal levels amid the seasonal growth in demand for diamond jewellery in the USA and China. “High season” of Christmas and New Year sales traditionally supports the market towards the end of the year”.
