“STRONG MARKET” DRIVES ALROSA’S SALES IN JANUARY-FEBRUARY

Russian mining giant Alrosa has announced diamond sales results for the first two months of 2018. In February, Alrosa sold $541.9 million worth of rough and polished diamonds. Rough diamond sales totaled $532.8 million, while polished diamond sales totaled $9.1 million.

 

In January–February 2018, the miner’s rough and polished diamond sales amounted to $1.046 billion. Rough diamonds were sold for $1.032 billion, while polished diamonds sales totaled $14.6 million.

 

Alrosa’s Deputy CEO Yury Okoemov commented on the results: “In February, the core diamond markets were quite strong. The diamond cutting sector continues replenishing the stock. Demand for diamond products was also backed up by good jewelry sales in China on the eve of the Chinese New Year. Prices for diamonds in most size categories grew in January-February”.
