Botswana’s rough diamond sales rose 22% to $4.46 billion from January to November 2022 “as buyers turned their backs on Russian goods,” according to IDEX Online. Sales figures for December will be published in February.
In 2021, rough sales totaled $3.47 billion. In 2020, rough sales totaled $2.12 billion.
A recent list by miningintelligence.com named the Jwaneng diamond mine, in Botswana, as the world’s richest diamond mine for the first three quarters of 2022. Jwaneng produced 10.3 million carats in 2022.
