DE BEERS’ 2ND SALES CYCLE RAKES IN $490 MILLION

Provisional data released by Anglo American shows that the value of rough diamonds sold by De Beers in the 2nd sales cycle (Global Sightholder Sales and Auction Sales) of 2019 totaled $490 million.

 

De Beers’ 1st sales cycle of 2019 totaled $500 million. De Beers’ 2nd cycle of 2018 raked in $563 million. All in all in 2018, De Beers’ made $5.39 billion in rough diamond sales.

 

CEO Bruce Cleaver commented of the 2nd sales cycle results: “Demand for rough diamonds remained consistent during the second sales cycle of 2019. While overall demand for lower value rough diamonds remains subdued, we did see an increase in demand from India as factories begin to restock”.
