DE BEERS’ 5TH ROUGH DIAMOND CYCLE RAKES IN $530 MILLION

Anglo American has announced the value of rough diamond sales (Global Sightholder Sales and Auction Sales) for De Beers’ fifth sales cycle of 2017. According to the miner, the fifth cycled amounted to $530 million. De Beers’ fourth sales cycle of 2017 amounted to to $520 million.

 

Bruce Cleaver, CEO of De Beers, said: “Following positive feedback from the Las Vegas trade show, and in line with recent trends, we saw continued good demand for De Beers rough diamonds in the fifth sales cycle of the year”.

 

Earlier this month, it was reported that on June 29, De Beers will allow traders in exceptional polished diamonds to transact anonymously for the first time via the De Beers Auction Sales platform. The first auction will include about 50 exceptional polished stones.
