India: Polished Exports Get a Boost but Rough Imports Fall in February 2023

Figures released by India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and quoted by Rough & Polished show that India’s polished diamond exports grew 12.16% year-on-year to $3110.20 million.

 

Meanwhile,  gross imports of Gems & Jewellery fell 17.21% year-on-year to $2238.55 million during the month.

 

In the period between April 2022 to February 2023, overall gross exports of Gems & Jewellery fell 2.18% to $34856.01 million, while gross imports of Gems & Jewellery grew only marginally (0.77%) during the same period. Gross Imports of rough diamonds fell 7,15% to $15715.50 million during the period. 

 

In addition, provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period between April 2022 to February 2023 grew almost 34%, totalling $1568.55 million.
