Lucapa Diamond Company has completed a further sale of alluvial diamonds from its Lulo Diamond Project in Angola. According to the company, it sold a parcel of 1,632 carats for a total of $3 million, representing an average price per carat of $1,838.
The miner indicated that the parcel did not include the gem-quality 46 carat pink diamond or other large Special diamonds recovered recently from new Mining Block 4. The 46-carat pink was recovered at the beginning of May, and is the largest gem-quality coloured diamond recovered to date from Lulo. In January of this year, the miner recovered a 43-carat yellow gem and in September 2016, it found a 39-carat pink.
Lulo has already recovered 10 +100 carat diamonds to date, including Angola’s two biggest recorded white Type IIa gems weighing 404 carats and 227 carats.
