Mountain Province Diamonds has announced its diamond production and sales results for 2021 from its Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine. In total, the miner produced 6.23 million carats against the guidance of 6.3- 6.5 million carats.
It sold 3,158,418 carats at an average value of $75 per carat for total proceeds of $236.9 million. In comparison in FY2020 it sold 3,329,289 carats at an average value of $51 per carat for total proceeds of $171.3 million.
According to Mountain Province, “sentiment in the rough diamond market continues to be buoyant.” The company had “strong diamond jewelry sales during the holidays” and its medium to longer-term outlook for rough diamonds remains positive.
