In a rough diamond tender held from November 26 to December 4 at the Dubai Diamond Exchange, Trans Atlantic Gem Sales (TAGS) sold a total of 97,841 carats for $46.4 million, according to IDEX Online.
TAGS remarked that 168 companies attended the auction, which included “high quality and high color material from South Africa and Angola […] as well as several significant special stones”. Average price per carat stood at $474.40.
The company said that it “has experienced a steady growth in volumes in both its regular productions from South Africa and Angola” and that in 2019, it expects its customers to receive “a regular and meaningful volume of high quality rough”. TAGS added that in this last tender, its biggest of the year, it had a “record number of viewing appointment requests and company registrations”.
