INDIA TO OPEN “FIRST OF ITS KIND” JEWELRY PARK

India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) is planning to develop the nation’s first industrial park, according to several news sources.

The dedicated zone in Mumbai will enable small-scale jewelry industry members to manufacture plain gold and studded jewelry at a single venue. GJEPC defines the project as “first of its kind” jewelry industrial park, and according to the organization, it will offer “top-of-the-range technology to improve efficiency and work culture”.

GJEPC announced that it has already initiated discussions with the Government of Maharashtra, (with Mumbai as its capital). A presentation targeting members of the plain gold or studded jewelry industry is scheduled for August 7 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre at Goregaon in Mumbai.
