IDE CELEBRATES DIWALI WITH THE INDIAN DIAMOND COMMUNITY

The Israel Diamond Exchange held a festive reception on Wednesday (October 18) to mark the start of the Diwali festival. The event was attended by Indian ambassador to Israel Paven Kapoor, IDE board members, senior representatives of the diamond industry, and representatives of India companies operating in the bourse.

“Rosh Hashana and Diwali are celebrated in close proximity, and they’re both important holidays. I’m happy to be here to witness this celebration”, said Ambassador Kapoor, “A few months ago, India’s PM Narendra Modi visited here, a very exciting visit for all of us. Together with PM Netanayahu, they decided to strengthen trade between the two countries, and diamonds are naturally an important part of trade. I thank you for your warm treatment of the Indian representatives at the IDE”. Kapoor then switched to Hebrew, wishing a happy Diwali to all.

IDE President Yoram Dvash wished everyone a happy Diwali and said: “The Indian community and the Israeli community have a similar mentality. We all have high family values, and many shared beliefs. We welcome the Indian companies to the IDE, and wish you all a happy Diwali”.

President of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association Kobi Koren said: “We’ve stopped counting the number of times that we have celebrated Diwali with you, since we feel like we’re your family. We wish you a happy Diwali, good health and success in business”.

President of the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange Shlomo Eshed got a round of applause when he revealed that in addition to Diwali, he was also celebrating his birthday. He, too, wished the guests a happy Diwali.

Anish Parikh from Rosy Blue Sales, who represented the Indian diamond community in Israel, said: “Diwali, the holiday of lights, may be an Indian holiday, but it’s been long celebrated at the IDE. Your support of the Indian community is crucial to us, and I wish all of us continued success”. Parikh arrived to Israel in 1979, and was the second Indian member at the IDE.

The celebration was concluded with a toast for everyone’s health and success, and a feast of Israeli and Indian food.
