Qatar and Israel, which have not established diplomatic relations, have signed a diamond trading agreement, according to IDEX Online following a report in Globes business news website.
The move, per the report, “allows Israel diamond traders to enter the country and set up representative offices.”
Qatar plans to establish a free trade zone for precious stones and gold as well as a diamond exchange based on the Dubai model. According to the report, “the Israel Diamond Exchange has reportedly welcomed the agreement to open up a new market.”
