RAMAT GAN: DIAMOND PARCEL ACCIDENTALLY THROWN TO TRASH

The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) Complex at Ramat Gan was abuzz with hectic activity last Thursday (May 24), as workers tried to find a parcel of diamonds that was accidentally thrown to the trash.

According to ynet news, a cleaner, working in one of the diamond factories in the complex, inadvertently threw away a bag with diamonds worth hundreds of thousands of NIS. When the mistake was discovered, the manager of the factory turned to IDE’s Chief Operating Officer, Nissim Arkovy, for help. Arkovy enlisted the help of many workers of the bourse, as well as Ramat Gan City Hall, for a frantic search of the bag before it could be taken away to the Hiriya landfill.

Arkovy instructed the factory manager to stand next to the big waste container outside the factory, and prevent people from throwing any more trash in it. Search teams were then brought it, the container emptied, and after two hours, the parcel – probably the most expensive trash bag in the world at that time – was found.
