“I feel fortunate: I help make peoples’ dreams come true”

Colored diamonds are a dream come true for many people,” says Mishael Vardi, founder and CEO of VMK Diamonds. “I feel fortunate to work in an industry that I love and to help make people’s dreams a reality. The joy of watching people fulfill their dream of owning a colored diamond is incredibly rewarding. They’ve only seen it in Hollywood movies, and suddenly they find out that they, too, can own one. We regularly trade in diamonds for collectors and investors, as well as stones that are affordable for people with an average income.”

Vardi, a second generation diamantaire, entered the diamond industry in 1997 with the intention of working with his father in the family business. However, a few years later, he decided to follow his own passion for colored diamonds. “My father specializes in fancy cuts for white diamonds, but I was drawn to the beauty and rarity of fancy colored diamonds,” explains Vardi.

In 2004, Mishael Vardi opened VMK Diamonds, specializing in fancy color diamonds. Initially, the company operated in the US and Europe and over the years, expanded to the Far East.

“My message to people is not to be afraid of fancy diamonds,” says Vardi. “There’s no need to postpone fulfilling your dreams, especially when you can work with trustworthy dealers who can provide you with the best product at the best price.”

Compared to other businesses in the same industry, VMK Diamonds is highly active online. “It’s all about the color,” says Vardi. “When dealing with colored diamonds, visuals are crucial. White diamonds only need a certificate, but fancy diamonds need to showcase their cut, hue, and appearance when set in jewelry. Ultimately, people want diamonds with ‘happy and sweet’ colors.”

According to Vardi, there are two exciting trends to look out for in the future. Firstly, customers are looking to diversify their portfolios by investing in diamonds. Secondly, customers are searching for rare and unconventional stones. “We can even see this trend among celebrities,” Vardi notes. “There has definitely been a rise in the sales of jewelry set with unique stones.”
